The Hummer H1 was a legend in its own right. But let’s be honest, on the road it was a total piece of crap.
Now you can pick them up cheap and tool round the hood in them, or you can go this route. You can give 220K to Mil-Spec Automotive for a luxury Hummer that would turn you into an overnight Uber driving Youtube star. Either that, or get used to seeing Sorority girls hanging out the windows of these things as limo companies snap them up.
Bear in mind this will still be cramped inside for such a big whale of a car and you really can only take four in comfort. But if that works for you, this thing is a blast.
The MSA Launch Edition is a Hummer with a difference.
Basically the only useful thing that remains of the original Hummer donor car are the title plates and the rails. The Wichita company then fits an aircraft-grade aluminum body, liberally coats the engine bay with ceramic to withstand the heat coming its way and it even extends that super-hard coating to the underbody.
You get a Duramax 6.6-liter turbodiesel engine with 500bhp and 1000lb/ft of torque. That pushes this thing to 60mph in 6.8s and on to 105mph. Uprate brakes mean you’ve even got a shot at stopping, too. That goes through a 6-speed gearbox and you get independent suspension.
Inside, it’s bespoke. You can have what you want, within reason, from a race-inspired cockpit through to a pimp’s palace.
It’s crazy money, but then all these kind of bespoke cars are. You’re paying as much for the 12 people handbuilding your car as any degree of technical excellence. You’re paying to stand out from the crowd, and you most certainly will.
